Dyusha's Platform
Surely part of the moral meaning of representative government is that the representatives from all parts of a vast nation coming together in a great mosaic not only represent the interests and visions of their respective localities but also then learn from each other, affect each other, reason together, diminish their respective provincialisms, and shape something nearer to the common good. –William Lee Miller
Active representation
As VP of External Affairs, instead of merely holding occasional "office hours", Dyusha will actively seek out what issues are important to undergraduates. With Dyusha in office, everyone is on the decision-making committees together.
Climate Reform
Our current Climate Committee is, unfortunately, pretty sad. Don't believe me? Take a look at the committee's website—that's right, there's no currently assigned tasks at all. As your representative on the Climate Committee, I will get it back on its feet.
Community Outreach
As the main point of contact between the undergraduate and graduate unions, Dyusha will keep members of the AU informed about volunteer opportunities for AstroTours, Sidewalk Astronomy, and other events, as well as provide graduate support to AU members' initiatives.
Transparency and Communication
Dyusha will reguarly publish my floor speech and voting history for all committees which Dyusha will be a member of, so you always know what Dyusha is doing to represent you.
Cooperation with the Executives
I will work closely with AU President-Elect Leo Rizk and VP-Elect of Operations Lisa Nasu-Yu to achieve our shared goals for a better, more inclusive union.
Representing you in AU
In addition to my statutory committee requirements, Dyusha will work hard to represent your interests in the undergraduate union itself. With him in office, any idea you have—"let's rent a party bus to look at the northern lights!"—can quickly become a reality.
